Staghorn ferns, from the platycerium family. is a polypod that is often grown mounted. Since they are epiphytic, growing up trees and other natural and biological material, many are mounted to mimic its natural conditions. Known for its uniquely shaped fronds, hence the name, staghorns leach water and nutrients from the air through its fronds. The root ball is encased and provided stability for the plant to latch to the plank ours are mounted with. If grown outdoors, a semi-shaded area is sufficient lighting; if grown indoors, indirect but medium-bright light is preferred.
